Nominations deadline is May 31, 2015
It is time that we begin working toward our future. Several Board positions are now open for nominations. These persons will then have the opportunity for the AHEA members to decide who will continue to lead our growth and impact in field.
Overview board members responsibilities:
- Be an existing member of the organization and in good standing. Board members should actively participate in the organization one year prior to seeking office.
- The Board of Directors shall control and manage the affairs and business of the organization.
- The Board shall act in the name of the organization during meetings convened by the Chair after due notice to all officers.
- The Board of Directors shall meet regularly throughout the year; currently this is 2nd Monday each month, 12 noon eastern.
- Each member shall have one vote and voting may not be done by proxy.
- The officers of AHEA shall be: President, President-Elect, Immediate Past-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Three Directors (Membership, Publication, and At-Large).
Open board positions 2015-2016
President-Elect (3 year commitment)
- Serve on the Board of Director for one year before assuming the position of President. The President-Elect shall become acting President, if the current President is absent or unable to fulfill the duties of President, and shall have all the rights, privileges, and power as if duly elected President.
- Serve as President following one year as President-Elect
- Become the Immediate Past-President at the end serving as President and serve on the Board of Directors for an additional year.
Secretary (1 year commitment)
- Keep the minutes and records of the organization in appropriate books.
- File any certificate required by any statute, federal or state;
- Maintain records, in conjunction with the association’s archivist, and seal of the organization.
- Keep minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and annual business meetings.
- Attend to all other duties incident to the office of Secretary.
Director Membership (2 year commitment)
- Each of the three Directors shall be elected for a two-year term.
- Specific responsibilities of each director shall vary according to the individuals in the position and the needs of the association. Duties shall fall in such areas as public relations, cultural diversity, organizational effectiveness, committee oversight, and projects.
- Works closely with treasurer to maintain membership database.
- Creates and distributes messages as needed.
- Works to keep AHEA social media up to date.
Directory-at-Large (2 year commitment)
- Each of the three Directors shall be elected for a two-year term.
- Specific responsibilities of each director shall vary according to the individuals in the position and the needs of the association. Duties shall fall in such areas as public relations, cultural diversity, organizational effectiveness, committee oversight, and projects.
