Come one; come all to the 33rd National Research-to-Practice Conference in Adult and Higher Education with Ball State University’s 2nd Annual Adult, Higher, and Community Education Research Conference on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20, 2014. The conference will be held at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana.
Indiana is known as the Crossroad of America. We are centrally located in the United States, providing easy access from anywhere in the world.
Conference theme: Innovations in “Scholarship and Practice of Teaching and Learning.”
In an effort to dynamically build a collaborative community among researchers and practitioners, the National R2P Conference supports new research, explores policy, and showcases industry best practices through interaction with innovative established professionals in the field of adult learning.
Pre-Conference (Friday morning) includes two tracks and varying sessions for Faculty, Researchers, Practitioners, and Graduate Students. One track will focus on innovations in technology for instruction, learning, student engagement, content retention, including emerging mobile interactive technology. Ball State University iLearn staff will be on hand for one-on-one appointments for targeted assistance with interactive technology use.
The other track will focus on strategies for success in graduate education, research, and publication. Dr. Michelle (Shelly) Glowacki-Dudka and her graduate students in Program Planning course have developed a graduate student track of educational sessions for graduate student scholarship and career development.
Keynote Panel Presentation will focus on adult and higher education policy, future trends, benefits, challenges, recommendations, and call to action. Panelists include: Dr. Jim Flowers, Professor of Technology, Ball State University; Dr. Elisabeth Hayes, Delbert & Jewell Lewis Chair in Reading & Literacy and Professor, Teachers College, Arizona State University; and Dr. Lisa Merriweather, Assistant Professor of Adult Education, Department of Educational Leadership, University of North Caroline Charlotte.
Networking Reception for Friday evening is billed as “Speed Networking for Researchers.”Graduate Students can submit Research Topic Proposals for consideration and selection as presenters. Each Graduate Student will have two minutes to share their research topic and solicit suggestions from the audience. After the presentations there will be extended networking time and opportunities to interact with conference attendees who have similar research interests. Refreshments will be served.
